![]() ![]() Now I will say my stuff is on an imac but i think it still holds true on the Macpro. and if you RAID them then you can get good speed also. a decent speed USB3 disk set would be plenty. Personally I doubt for image files you need to go to the expense of Thunderbolt (but if your saveing big video files then maybe). įor space and cost there is no real need to keep your image (raw ) files on the internal (expensive) disks. the whole lot (CAT and both previews) run to about 80gig ). I have it render the smallest previews and smart previews (because I run a copy i use when im out on a laptop) I have LR delete the 1:1 previews after a week to save space. My LR cat has 100k of images and the Cat file is just under 1gig. the LR cat is not a huge file anyway and you dont have to keep every preview file LR generates. Keep your LRcat and the preview files on the main Drive (or at least something internal and fast). LR is CPU hungry not RAM hungryīut for other stuff like PS then yeah memory is good. If your looking at LR performance then maxing memory is not needed. Especially if you are buying all new SSD storage for the first time? ![]() It seems to me maxing out internal storage is both the fastest and well priced. Where will your catalog and previews reside? Internal PCIe? or External PCIe? (PCIe having the best speed because the additional channels and is clearly the future direction for storage from apple) late 2013 Mac Pro-Best Config for Lightroom?įor Lightroom 5 and Lightroom 6 in a year 1 1/2.
